Yorkshire Amateur Association Football League - Respect report for the 2017/18 season

1

Foreword

Dear all,

I am pleased to present the Yorkshire Amateur Association Football League
Respect report for the 2017/18 season.

It has been a very promising pilot season of the Respect policy in our league, with
69.3% of games featuring the Respect handshake and 96.3% of the Respect marks
awarded being either ‘Good’ or ‘Outstanding’. This is down to the hard work,
commitment and support from participants who have worked towards improving
the match day experience for everyone involved across the season.

Over the summer, we will be working to thoroughly reviewing the successes and
development points of Respect in the Yorkshire Amateur Association Football
League during the pilot season, with a view to make the match day environment
even better!

As always, if you have any queries please feel free to get in touch.
Thanks for your continued support.

Lewis Elliott

Respect marking criteria

Outstanding

● No dissent or abuse by anyone involved with the team.
● No questioning of decisions, except politely by the captain at
an appropriate time (i.e. half-time break or the end of the
game).
● Every player clearly understands that the referee’s decisions
are to be respected, regardless of whether they are correct or
incorrect.
● Members of the team offered genuine thanks to their
opponents and the referee.

Good

● Some unnecessary appealing and very minor questioning of
decisions.
● The captain worked proactively with his team’s players to
quickly stop any appealing and questioning of decisions.
● The referee felt respected throughout the match.
● Players accepted the referee’s decisions.

Requires Improvement

● Some elements of this team’s contribution to the match made
this a slightly less than desirable encounter.
● Some members of the team (i.e. players, substitutes, coaching
staff and spectators) appealed excessively and questioned
decisions aggressively.
● The captain began to manage his team’s players once the
referee instructed him to do so.
● There was little sign of a sporting approach to the game and
opposition players.

Inadequate

● Most of the team’s players, substitutes, coaching staff and
supporters appealed excessively and questioned the referee’s
decisions aggressively.
● The captain made no effort whatsoever to manage the poor
behaviour from his team.
● The team was undisciplined with a lack of any sign of real
sporting behaviour.

What the data means

Pos’

This is the team’s position in the Respect league table. This has been determined by
the number of points the team has accumulated throughout the season.

Reports

Number of Referee Report Forms (RRF) submitted for this team.

%RRF

The percentage of Referee Report Forms (RRF) submitted.
This has been calculated with the below formula:

%RRF = (Number of reports submitted / Number of games played) x 100

RESPECT marks
O : Outstanding (3 points gained)
G : Good (1 point gained)
RI : Requires Improvement (1 point deducted)
I : Outstanding (3 points deducted)

Points

The points that have been accumulated across the 2017/18 season (see RESPECT
marks above).

This stands for Points Per Report. This shows the average points gained or
deducted for every Referee Report Form (RRF) submitted for the team. This is
calculated using the below formula:

PPR = Total number of points / Total Referee Report Forms (RRFs) submitted.
