Premier Division

Alwoodley v Beeston Juniors

Alwoodley has stuttered and stumbled over the past three spring weeks but they played superbly last Wednesday against Medics despite losing 3-1 and Alwoodley still expect to pip Ealandians into fourth place. Beeston are not as sure about that last statement as their recent run of success has not gone unnoticed. Possibly Alwoodley 3-2.

Grangefield v Farnley Sports

Two close rivals. Derby match close. Grangefield has at last found some form and are considered likely winners of this game with Farnley with the latter suffering from pre-Cup Final fatigue.

Leeds Medics & Dentists v Stanley Utd

Medics are third and Stanley second as shown below. The team have met twice this season and in the Cup and the League and on each occasion the team highly rated by Stanley, that is Medics, has won 5-1. The record in the two earlier meeting indicates that Medics should win by a healthy margin but let’s see how it goes from here.

Trinity OB v Farsley Celtic Jnrs Res

Little to add here with Trinity already relegated. The expected Farsley victory would give them 44 pts. The maximum number of points obtainable by Stanley Utd is now 43pts. Medics could win their three remaining game and claim 45 points. Medics could not have asked for a harder task than against second placed Stanley and we will follow this game with interest. Danny Lyons of Farsley is looking good for the Golden Boot.

The Championship

WWWWWW Drighlington v Mt St Mary’s WWLWLL

First of all it is congratulations to Drighlington on their promotion to the top flight. They have a scoring record of more than three goals per game and have conceded 18 goals in 17 matches having dropped a mere four points. Tough game for Mt St Mary’s who have surprisingly lost three of their last four fixtures. They have settled down well in the YAL and will make Drighlington work hard to maintain its present unbeaten record.

Joe Hudson of Wortley leads the way in the Golden Boot with19 League goals. Morley’s Ryan Hartley is three goals behind Joe.
LLWLLL Thornesians v Morley Town AFC DLWLWL

There is much for Morley to play for in this game. Thornes are second to bottom. Morley Town AFC is third in the table.

Drig are champs P 17 Pts 47
Medics Res – cannot be promoted - P18 Pts 36
Morley P 16 Pts 34
Mt St Mary’s P17 Pts 34

If Morley succeeds in taking nine points from three of the last four games then they will finish second and are automatically promoted. The game of Thornes is one they are expected to win but recent Morley form has been sketchy.

Division 1

DWWWWL Horsforth St Margaret’s v Old Batelians WLWLLD POSTPONED - BATELIANS COULDN'T RAISE A TEAM

Little standing in the way of a Horsforth St Margaret’s victory with Batelians showing only one win in their last five matches. There is a fluctuating scene at the top of Division 1. Horsforth has to keep on winning to stand a chance of drawing level with 2nd placed Bedes. Horsforth are 9 points behind Bedes with three matches in hand. If Bedes lose tomorrow then Horsforth will need three wins from four games, including tomorrow’s.

DLWWWW Huddersfield YMCA v St Bedes WWWWWL

YMCA is in terrific home form having won their last four matches. They are playing superbly and Bedes will not find it easy to break down a normally solid YMCA defence. Bedes probably ring rusty and when, like YMCA, you are playing well with a busy fixture list, then the victories come more easily as your team become super-fit. I’ll check the super-fit bit with Dean on Saturday pm. 3-2 YMCA.

Div 2

WDWLDW Leeds City OB v Sandal Wdrs WWDDLW

One point will do for Leeds City to become the second promoted team in Div 2. They should defeat Sandal if the League positions mean anything but it is Wanderers who can turn on 30 minutes of sublime football and change the outlook on any game. City have been solid and deserve to go up as do Collegians and Ealandians Res who will be third and fourth respectively if City OB attain their promotion target.

LLLLLL Wheelwright OB v Woodkirk Valley LLLWWW

Wheelwright is on the comeback trail. Rejuvenated Woodkirk are to rub salt in wound to make it four wins in last four gam 3es. Aaron Irving of the Champions is heading for the Golden Boot with 35 goals. Tom Hart of Wdrs has 28 goals. Seven goals from 1 game needed to draw level. Against City OB?

Div 3

DWLWL Leeds City OB Res v East Ardsley Wdrs WWLDWW
DWDLWL Leeds Medics IV v Fairbank Utd WDWWDW

Leeds City OB Res and Leeds Medics IV have done well this season and are 6th and 8th in the table but it is a congested mid-table that could all change. East Ardsley and Fairbank Utd promoted. If Ardsley win both matches left to play then they are champions. Hugo Sach has Golden Boot neatly locked away on 36 goals. Mamadu Dambe has 28 goals and needs 9 in the three games left to overtake Hugo.

Div 5

Woodkirk Res v Garforth Crusaders

Crusaders have won the title and are now finish their season with the fixture against Woodkirk. Crusader are outstanding champions but Woodkirk looked doomed to finish in the bottom two at one point but a good end of season run has lighted the gloom. This could be an afternoon for flowing football. Reuben Young, City OB III, should win golden Boot with 30 goals from 20 games. Luke Henshaw of Woodkirk, James Tesseyman also of Woodkirk and Steve Phillips of Crusaders are in top four.

Div 6

Centralians Res v Morley Utd

Div 6 champions Morley comes fresh from the Hodgson Cup Final and what a superb part they played in a wonderful encounter. Cents Res need to return to winning ways but the second half of the season has been disappointing in terms of results. Morley will win. United’s Tommy Snowden looks good value for Golden Boot with 29 goals from 14 appearances.

Thornesians III v Shire Academics IV

Shire IV eighth and a more than useful first season as the Shire club develops. Thornes III has struggled but there have been signs of improvement of late.

Supplementary Cup

Collegians v Morley Town III Gp A

Wide open. Winner of this group will be in the final.

Modernians Res v Ealandians III C

Morley Res already won Gp C but expect Ealandaisn III to win

North Leeds v Colton Athletic Res B

So many different permutations and combinations in Group B. Going for North Leeds to win 3-2

Shire Academics III v Beeston Juniors Res B

As we say Group B wide open. Beeston can be superb on their day and two well matched sides. Await the outcome of Group B with interest.
