St bedes 8 v 2 Leeds independent

We start very lethargicly and st bedes first break inside the first minute puts us under pressure. A ball rolling through to baha somehow rolls under his foot and into the net. 1-0. We pick it up and a good move down the left puts walker in who plays the ball across for Kwame to slot in. 1-1. We don't seem at the races at all and are giving the ball away too easy. Bedes pressure us again and a good move results in them firing in from the edge of the box. 2-1. Again we're sloppy with the ball and not picking up which results in another quick goal to bedes. 3-1. We're totally deflated and playing like 9 year olds. Another break by bedes and a good finish 4-1. Only 15 minutes gone. A bit of a lull with nobody creating for 10. Bedes get a free kick on edge of the box and fire it in the corner. 5-1. We pick it up and keep the ball a little better. Moving forward we create a chance and a good finish by Jordan Clarke. 5-2. Ht. 2nd half starts pretty even although bedes still look more dangerous on the attack. 20 minutes go by with no real action then there striker picks it up and smashes one in the top corner. 6-2. Bedes are on top and seem like they are walking passed us at times. They go forward again and an unselfish cross from there striker brings an easy finish 7-2. Worse I've seen us play in 20 years. Again bedes pick it up and move forward to slot in again 8-2. Work rate, passion and simple football has lacked throughout the whole game. A rare attack for us results in a good finish from azekya Jeffers 8-3. Ft.

Idle make their mark with emphatic Trophy victory - It adds up to eight

Postby neville » Sat Jan 05, 2019 5:07 pm

Idle started 2019 with an emphatic win in the last 16 of the West Riding County FA Trophy over Springhead FC Reserves! Springhead had travelled all the way from Oldham to face Idle which can't have been much fun following the festive period. Idle were certainly the better side overall, controlling the game and creating a number of chances. There's a lot of goals to talk through today with Ash Maitland opening the scoring, Tom bagging a hatrick, Jonny Dearing smashing one into the top corner inside the box, Jack Strudwick bagging one from open play and a penalty after George Collins was brought down in the box and Luke Chandler finding the net with a tap in. In truth, Springhead didn't really offer too much attacking threat and the Idle defence swept up the majority of attacks with ease. In the end, it was a great post-Christmas performance from Idle with a boat load of goals scored and another clean sheet. It's into the quarter finals! Today's Man of the Match award, sponsored by Pulse Hanson goes to Jonny Dearing for a dynamic display in centre midfield

Old Batelians lost 2 - 1 today to Cents our goal from Rob Bordman . how we ended up loosing this one is pretty obvious we didnt score from the various chances we made and cents did twice from the chances they made

WRCFA Challenge Cup

Stanley Utd 1-0 Leeds City

Great game at WRCFA with a tight first half seeing them creating better chances but our defence and keeper in good form.

2nd half we took the lead after a great ball from Josh Whiteley found Ben Huntington to head home.

We got a man sent off with 25 to go and it was backs to the wall after that with them hitting post crossbar keeper windows fence and everything except our net.

They are a good side..... better than us but today was our day........

Local football as it should be..... Get in!

St Bedes 8-3 Leeds Independent

First game back after the winter break and we put in a solid performance without reaching our true potential.

We took the lead within the first couple of minutes when Josh beat the full back and the ball somehow trickled past the keeper after a mix up between centre back and keeper. Indy got level when the striker drove down the left and squared it for his strike partner who scored from 6 yards out. We had a good period of play where we scored 4 goals. Andrew McHugh got a hat trick in that period, with a couple of excellent finishes from the edge of the box and a lovely rifled free kick into the bottom corner. Alex Green got in on the act too with a sumptuous chip over the keeper. Indy got one back with a smart finish from just inside the box.

Half time with a comfortable lead, the lads were asked to move the ball quicker as we were a bit sluggish after a couple of weeks off despite the 5 goals.

Second half and the game was quiet scrappy early on but once we started playing through the thirds we played through them at will. We had a goal disallowed for Mchugh which defied explanation. He dusted himself off and smashed one in from 25 yards out. Jermaine Moyce got his customary goal after being set up by his strike partner. Andrew Gallagher got a goal his performance deserved gliding past a couple and finishing with aplomb. In between all this we had 2 pretty blatant penalty decisions not given. Alex missed from 6 yards and the ball somehow went out for a throw in. Indy got a goal back after Christopher Drake thought he was Pirlo on the edge of the box, he isn't. The nicked it and scored. Mchugh could have had his fifth but hit the post.

Overall a good performance but we can play better.

MoM - some real strong performances today, Mchugh, Gallagher, Green and Gilmartin were all particularly good but I'm going to give it to Ben Shaw for showing unbelievable commitment driving down from Newcastle to play today.

St Bedes Academy 3 - 3 Savile Utd

I stepped in to temporarily manage the academy team today due to the resignation of the manager before Christmas.
The executive summary today would read brilliant for 80 minutes, deservedly leading 3-1 with 10 minutes remaining, but succumbed to the constant niggles and behaviour of the opposition, combined with some poor home substitutions allowed the visitors to snatch an undeserved point.
A neutral watching this game would never have thought it was the away team who had a 100% record and Bedes were propping up the table. That said, we put out arguably our strongest team of the season today, calling on academy players, a few old faces and a couple of first team squad players.
We started off like a train and missed a notable chance before Karlis Turcins rose like a salmon to head us into a one goal lead.
The midfield duo of Tom O’Neill and Tom Mozley worked tirelessly, with the defence of Collis Robinson and Karlis ably supported by Henry Mozley and Ziggy at full backs.
The team were comfortably dealing with any Savile attacks, in fact it was Bedes who looked most dangerous with Omari Stapleton and Noury working the flanks well.
It wasn’t long before Spence up front made it 2-0 with a bit of a scrambled finish but after a well worked move.
Savile pulled one back just before half time, but the game was getting uglier by the minute.
Half time and the boys were told to keep up the high tempo, but play it simple.
It wasn’t long before we somehow contrived to miss a glaring opportunity through wantaway manager Dougan who seemed to excel as a player since his resignation.
The goal of the game came after 65 minutes when Tom Mozley hit a perfect cross from the right and Dougan volleyed high into the net.
It was no more than the hosts deserved.
It just seemed like a matter of time before the Academy (average age well above 30) got the 3 points but the last 10minutes proved to be decisive for the away team.
A few loose challenges by the opposition went unpunished and with bedes making a few unnecessary changes, we conceded two sloppy goals to allow Savile back in.
Even then, Spence missed a good chance to head us the win.
All in all, it’s a good point even though it felt like a lose.
Every player worked hard and the team is looking much better.
Man of the Match was awarded to Tom O’Neill for his energetic display in the centre of the park.

WRCFA Challenge Cup Rd 4

5th Jan 2019

Kick Off - 1400hrs

Honley 1 Wortley 2

Fabulous victory for Wortley who beat by far the most consistent side in the Challenge Cup over the past five seasons. That is Huddersfield First divisioin side Honley. Nothing given away in the first half and goalless at half time. Cody Doyle put Wortley ahead after the intevalwith an equaliser for Honley in and around the 60th minute. Wortley kept cool and they grasped the equaliser n the75th mintue through Matty Dalton. Mo iostakes allowed and a mature Wortley display guaranteed their place in Round five.

Amaranth 1 Shelf Utd 2

Both sides enjoyed some brighter moments and then some indifferent spells, Shelf probably edged the first half and led 1-0 at half time. Amaranth had to pull out all the stops to equalise midway into the second period and felt they had done enough to at least enter a penalty shoot out. No such luck for Amaranth who surrendered their second goal with jus about the last kick of the match.

Shire Academics Res 1 Linthwaite Ath 6

Shire Res were quick to point out the score flattered Linthwaite with three goals coming in the final five minutes. The simple fact is that Linthwaite were 3-1 ahead at half time after a dispay likened by Shire to that of a team in the lower reaches of YAL Division 1.

Leeds City FC 1 Uppermill Res 1 (Leeds City 4-3 pens)

A hard, graft for Leeds City whose work ethic ensured they enter found five. Not an easy game and I hope Rob finds time ta add a little more. Not only with the goals direct but also a missed pen, a goal disallowed and even more? I have read quite an amount about Uppermill during the past few seasons and cannot stress enough that this was a super success for Leeds City FC.

Idle 8 Springhead Res 0 (tbc) but at least eight

A splendid victory for Idle with the score not seen anywhere as yet but the report is just what we required. Springhead are only three places below Uppermill in the League and this is the first time I have noted their being defeated so heavily.

Crackenedge 10 (ten) Trinity OB 0

A 10-0 loss can happen if a team in Div 2 like Trinity meet up with the leading Premier Division side in any League.

Mount St Mary's 4 Oxenhope Rec Res 0

Mount St Mary's once again show up well in this competition. They beat Oxenhope Reserves with time to spare in the end. 2-0 half time with goals from Adu Nsiah Ransford and Pat Gibbons. Adu Nsiah Ransford added two more in the second period to complete his hat trick but the was beaten to the man of the match award by the Mount St mary;s keeper Luke Longley who save a penalty with the score 1-0 and then made a "miracle" save with the score 2-0 with both saves vital ingredients in the Mount St Mary's victory.

Beeston St Anthony's Res 5 Garforth Crusaders 1

Beeston SA Res really are the complete workds in terms of Reseve team football and to defeat Garforth Crusaders 5-2 is a top class achievement. Any further info will be gratefully received.

Kick Off 1400 hrs

Drighlington Res 4 West End Park 2

No spoken with WEP but they have done well to keep Drig Res down to 4-2. Hope they enjoyed the game. Kiern Boulton, Charlie Leather, Andy Punter and Nat Chadwick struck it lucky for the winners whilst Lyndon Wells and Nathan Williams hit the back ofthe net for West End Park.

Huddersfield Amateur 2 Lepton Highlanders 0

It was a tight game that wasn't decided until late on. We took the lead in the first half with a Ben Keegan goal and had another couple of goals from set pieces that were disallowed. Lepton grew into the game and hit the woodwork twice in the second half but we snatched a second goal through an Anthony Wadsworth penalty. The Lepton keeper made a goal initial save but wasn't able to keep the follow up out.

Horsforth injury hands initiative to hosts Sandal

Postby neville » Sat Jan 05, 2019 10:11 pm

SandlalWdrs 3 Horsforth St Margaret'sd Res 2

A well contested affair on our great home pitch. Horsforth struck first after a parried freekick was spilled and four, yes four, Horsforth players reacted quicker than us.

Scott Cosgrove quickly brought us all square with a great finished from a slide rule pass from the retirning Ben Harding, Ben has missed most of the season with a broken foot, who was outstanding all afternoon.

Massive moment that changed the game when their dominant centre forward left the pitch. This left them with very little direction and often hacking the ball anywhere. We stepped up and controlled most of the game from here. We defended well and our Keeper made good saves when required.

Second half was much the same. We took the led through a Toby Rutter cross. Cosgrove flung himself at it missed it but put the keeper off and it sneaked in the far corner. Minutes later Harding scores through the keepers legs to put us 3-1 up.
They scored a brilliant second when we overplayed and scrapped hard to equalised. We held on which has been missing this year.

Good luck to them, a very physical side.

Premier Division

Drighlington 3 Stanningley OB 1

Drighlington are six points behind leaders Farsley Celtic Juniors with a game in hand. Never going to be a walkover but the margin comfortable enought after the 90 minutes. ht 1-0, 2-0, 2-1 and 3-1 with goals for Drighlibngton from Sam Sowden 2 and the returning Harvye Booth. Possibly news from second to bottom Stanningley on the way.

Ealandians 1 Alwoodley 1

Not too mcu yet lon theis one but do knlow that Geoff Clarksn bnetted after a free kick to give Alwoodley the lead. Alwodley are eighth and Ealandians now sixth.

Grangefield OB 0 Farsley Celtic Juniors 1

Important victory for Farsley that opens up a six point lead at the top of the Premier Division. Grangefeild are third but seven points behind Farsley having played one more game than Farsley. Await news from Grangefield but Farsley felt that they were the masters in a packed midfield with the Farsley keeper Jordan Wright not having one direct shot to save. By the same token the Grangefeild keeper was under-employed for much of the afternoon with Farseley possibly having the edge fitness wise. The goal came after 25 mintues when an 80 yard punt by Jordan Wright defeated the Grangefield rearguard and the ever alert Danny Lyons accelerated past the defenders to slot home.

Horsforth St Margaret’s 4 Calverley Utd 0

The Horsforth coachj Ryan Leadbeater was delighted with his sides didplay this after noon with two goals in each half. Calverley are now 10th with Horsforthalmost on their own in fifthe position. Good start tothe Nwew Year for Callum Walker with his hat trick that included gopals in the 20th and 40th minutre with Joe C adding the fourth goal.

Wibsey 3 Athletico 2

Wibsey remain bottom of the Premier Divisionn but clearly a close affair. Await news from both teams. Athletico are seventh with goals flowing like flood water down the Thames but the Athetico defence needs to be bolstered.

Championship

Gildersome Spurs OB 4 Beeston St Anthony’s 1

The first comment is to state that Wortley are fourth with seveal games in hand on those above them. ht 1-0 thanks to the free scoring Jamie Lloyd. Conor Firth and Danny Norton made the score 3-0 with Tony Garth reducing the arrears at 3-1 before Lewis Heeley added the fourth. Beeston remain third to bottom but Mount St Mary's and Leeds Independent have, in the case of Indy, three games in hand of Beeston.

Morley Town AFC 5 Ealandians Res 2

This victory moves Morley up to third and nine points behind leaders Spurs with three games in hand. Yet anther defeat for Ealandians Res who are ninth. Ryan Hartley hit a hat trick and chosen as man of the match and well supported by goals Kev Mackay and sub Lewis Bromley as Morley continue to put presure on the leading clubs. 3-0ht.

St Bedes 8 Leeds Independent 3

Thanks for the news from both teams shown ablve. Bedes are still second and three points behind Spurs OB but Bedes have played two matches more.

Graham Shaw 3 and Andy Shaw 1 as Alwoodley Res stage a comeback

Postby neville » Sun Jan 06, 2019 12:24 am

Division 1

Alwoodley Res 4 Farsley Celtic Juniors Res 3

Andy Shaw gave Alwoodley Res the lead but cancelled out before half time. Graham Shaw made it 2-1 after half time before the excellent Farsley team once again drew level. Another trademark goal from the Alwoodley powerhouse Graham before Farsley find the energy to draw level at 3-3 before Graham completed his triple. Farsley had a player sent off for making a disparaging comment to the referee. Alwoodley are tenth out of thirteen with 9 points from 11 fixtures. Farsley Celtic juniors Res are ninth with 13 points from 11 matches. Adam Kellett, Danny Kemp and Jake Thompson on the ball for Farsley Celtic Jnrs Res.

Beeston Juniors OB 3 Dewsbury Rangers 2

Dewsbury came unstuck after five consecutive victories with their excllent defensive record taking a knock but they are still sixth.
Fantastic Display From Beeston Old Boys Controlled The Game, Unfortunately A 5 Minute Blip Cost Us A Clean Sheet.
Scorers Vs Dewsbury Rangers - Anthony Staten - 3. Beeston Jnrs overtake Dewsbury being one point ahead but Beeston has played two more matches than Dewsbury.

Many Thanks, Stu=

Collegians 6 Collingham Juniors 1

The Collingham revival was sort lived (one match) as Collegians bounced back into top form. This victory leaves them third but three points behind leaders Woodkirk with a game in hand. On 24 points with Collegians are Amaranth who have played two games fewer than Collegians. Hovering in the foreground are Idle with 20 points from eight outings. Collegians play well and with confidence. Tom Hughes 3, Scott Kirkbright 2 and Jordan Spencer on the scoresheet. 2-1ht.

Whitkirk Wanderers 0 Thornesians 2

Fifth consecutriv loss for Whitkirk. News in the ether from Thornes whose away form is surprsingly good. Whitkirk are second to bottom with Thornesians seventh with 16 points from 13 games.

Woodkirk Valley 2 Leeds Medics & Dentists III 1

One heck of a game. Medics showed what they can do with a strengthed side and made the leaders fight hard for their victory and who needed that little extra as well as fighting capabilities. Medics went ahead after 20 minutes with Chris McGuire equalising around the 30th minute mark whilst, after another 10 minutes, around the 40 minute mark, leading scorer James Tesseyman notched the winner of a superb contest. Woodkirk knocked in eight in the reverse fixture, Medics III are third to bottom.

North Leeds 2 Leeds Modernians 0

A high valued victory for North Leeds who overcame a Leeds Modernians side that has played well of late. More North Leeds detail to come. A proper football scorline with Hudd Amat also obliging 2-0 as shwon above. Modernians stick n the secnd to bottom slot but North Leeds continue to dog Huddersfield Amateur and Norristhorpe with games in hand to spare for North Leeds. New Middleton light years away at the top of the division but as New Midletn deducted three points for a misdemenour then Leeds City III are only five points away from New Middleton with two matches in hand.

Div 4: Calverley United FC Res 2 Norristhorpe Res 1
First game for both sides since 8th December and a good win for the home side despite our early dominance of possession. Though it wasn’t all one way as the pacey Calverley forward ran through and rounded our keeper to see his shot cleared off the line by MOM Luke Robinson early doors.
Profligacy in front of goal cost us in the first half, and with the referee failing to give us a penalty midway through when Brad Wild was scythed down running into the box. Calverley took heart and the challenges flowed with our number 8 James Pedersen taking the brunt but then picking up a yellow card for pretty much his only challenge of the game late on which told its own story. 0-0 HT

With limited resources we shuffled the frontline at the break and it paid off as Brad Wild found Liam Ramsden to run through and score. 0-1. We could and should have scored a few more after that as Calverley wobbled but their keeper was on good form pulling of some good saves. Gradually the physicality of the fixture told as scorer Liam Ramsden limped off and we used our only sub. Calverley played to their strengths with passionate challenges and long balls for the pacey forward to run onto and that he did twice in the space of 5 minutes with two good finishes to give the points to the home side in the last 10 minutes. 2-1 FT

Championship

Gildersome 4-1 BSA

It was a pretty even first half with one goal separating the sides when Beeston overplayed at the back and were picked off by the league leaders arguably against the run of the play. HT 1-0

Up to the hour mark there was nothing in the game but the superior fitness of the hosts then began to show, you can not afford to gift goals to anyone let alone the best team in the division, they scored twice more to make a 3-0. Tony Garth pulled a goal back for Beeston with a header from a corner to make it 3-1.

In the latter stages a fourth was conceded to make it 4-1 to Gildersome. FT

If they Saints play the way the did today every week then they will get themselves out of trouble. Well done to Gildersome they are a decent outfit and a decent set of lads.

Clinical Farsley but Grangefield not clinical enough

Postby neville » Sun Jan 06, 2019 12:23 pm

Yorkshire Amateur League Result

Grangefield OB 0 - 1 Farsley Celtic

It was the first encounter of this season for this local derby which eventually Farsley held onto, to continue there unbeaten season.

Grangefield were the better team to start with and had various chances from all the forward players which should have resulted in Grangefield being in-front. However it was a long kick from the goalkeeper which deceived the Grangefield defence for the Farsley striker to latch onto and poke into the nett. Following that goal, the lads never gave up and should have got something from the game as we pressed Farsley into an uncomfortable position for the remainder of the game but unfortunately Grangefield were not clinical enough and it finished 1-0.

Farsley showed why they are top of the league as they were clinical with only a couple of chances throughout the game however Grangefield showed that they are still a contender for the league even without the
Result they deserved.

We push on again next week against Leeds Independent in the Quarter Final of the Terry Marfitt Cup at home.

Re: Results for 5 Jan 19 - Colton win away to Fairbank

Postby ChrisGibson » Sun Jan 06, 2019 6:04 pm

Division 2

Fairbank 1 – 4 Colton

It was a cracker of a match as usual between these two sides, which was very well officiated. Colton took a three goal lead inside the opening 20 minutes.

Danny Coates from the spot after a handball inside the box on 5 minutes.
On 10 minutes Colton went two goals up with Jono Goodwin shooting in from just outside the box after a Ben Vickers throw in caused confusion in the Fairbank defence.

Vickers then scored ten minutes later with a low shot and Fairbank were struggling to get into the game. 0 – 3.

The hosts did eventually get a foothold as the half wore on, and were rewarded with their hard work on 39 minutes when they scored from a free kick.

Half time 1 – 3.

In the second half Fairbank launched a big offensive and kept Colton penned in their own half for the first fifteen minutes or so. Their long balls created a few openings; however the Colton defence, marshalled superbly by Chris Wayman and Joe Horner, stood their ground. It was backs to the wall situation for a while, as Colton were unable to keep the ball as well as they did in the first half. But they were resolute and defended with grit.

Once the storm was weathered, Colton began to have further opportunities going forward. Coates was creating havoc; Goodwin was supportive; Josh Naylor and James Green probed with their passing. Chris Hick went close on two occasions.

Fairbank kept battling, however on 84 minutes Colton struck their fourth goal when Tom Whelan; superbly picked out by Coates; found himself inside the Fairbank box and scored at the near post.

Final score 1 – 4

Morley Amateurs 2 North Leeds Reserves 1

Was a good game with both teams playing nice football at times. Some suspect refereeing decisions at times prevented the game from being even better. I must highlight that this wasn’t one way and didn’t have an impact on the result itself as Morley had some poor decisions against them too in my opinion. We had chances to get back into the game but ultimately Morley were the better side and had a lot of chances themselves to increase their lead. Matty Harding goal for North Leeds. Ste Kay man of the match.

Wibsey 3 Athletico 2

Good competitive game at Bankfoot yesterday. Both teams started well in an end to end game but both keepers made good early saves to keep the score 0-0 until on 20 minutes Jordan Northin met a deep free kick from James Crossland to head Wibsey in front. Athletico scored an excellent equaliser playing some great football in midfield to break open the Wibsey defence before firing into the top corner to ensure the first half finished 1-1.

Athletico got themselves in front on 65 minutes when a shot was well saved by Sparky in the Wibsey goal but while still on the floor his clearance hit a Athletico player who poked home from close range. An excellent personal performance by Northin was capped with another header soon afterwards that got Wibsey level and with 5 minutes left, Ethan Labad broke from midfield and fired across the keeper to put Wibsey back in front at 3-2 which is how the game ended. The scorers were Mohammed Qasim and then Adeeb Jawad for Atheltico.

This was a good game to play in and probably the game I've enjoyed most all season. Beeston turned up with real intent and it was a tight, honest and competitive game up until the 3rd goal. The Beeston that turned up would be in the top 4 if they played like that week in week out. However, I'm fed up of the sight of them after playing them 3 times this season already. Good set of lads who will go on to win their fair share of games from here on in. Best of luck for the season lads.

Leeds City FC

County Trophy v Uppermill Reserves

A second penalty shootout success in the comp as we progressed through to the next round.

We knew nothing about the opposition but they proved to be a good side. 2 solid centre halves and a midfield that demonstrated a good work ethic throughout.

Uppermill had a goal disallowed early on for a push from a corner and probably for 30 mins were the better side as we looked like we hadn’t played for 3 weeks.

We were awarded a fortunate penalty before HT when Adam Fox was brought down in the box. Ali Lewis converted for a 1-0 lead at the break.

Second half Uppermill were awarded a pen (again harsh) but Liam produced a fantastic save to keep us in the lead.

Uppermill grabbed a goal late on that they deserved when a cross from the right was deflected past Liam by Macca.

Macca then had a wonderful opportunity to put us back in the lead but missed the target from 5 yards with a header with the goal at his mercy.

Straight to pens and after the initial 5 it went to sudden death and we came through after Liam again saves his heroics when it mattered.

A super, hard fought victory.

Division 3
Norristhorpe 3 - 1 Prospect
Good match against a good set of lads from Prospect. 1st half fairly even but we went in 2-0 up following 2 individual errors from Prospect.
I thought we were better in the second half, we added a third before Prospect pulled one back with about 5 minutes to go. All our goals scored by Danny Mountain. Looking forward to the return fixture.
