Beeston Juniors 4 St Nicholas 3

The fixture was moved to the 3G pitch at Middleton with both teams eager to get a game under their belt. A much needed win for Beeston who make it three victories on the trot and that includes completing the double today against St Nicholas who have only two points from 13 matches. Beeston has 16 points from 13 games but they started badly allowing St Nicholas to take an early lead. Beeston had to battle to draw level and they moved on to a 3-1 advantage with centre mid Matt Fisher prominent and the Referee's man of the match. St Nicks would not curl up and die and they reduced the deficit to one goal with the Beeston management relieved at the end to secure all three points. Goals for Beeston emanated from Ryan Dawson, Jordan Walker and red carded Anthony Staten 2. Gordan Clarke and Kyle Jeffrey 2 for St Nicks.

Not good from reserves today.

4-0 after 20 mins or so, with Rothwell looking the best team we’ve played

4-1 half time - Carl Lomax

Rothwell added a fifth 10 mins from time

Although Bedes Res are second it is believed by many that Rothwell are a capable, effective outfit and that this Bedes Res defeat was no major surprise. Bedes remain second but Rothwell closed the gap on second placed Bedes Reserves to seven points with four matches in hand. Norristhorpe still head the Division and are ten points ahead of Rothwell Res but Rothwell has only three matches in hand. In between all this Tyersal Res are third being six points behind second placed Bedes with one game in hand.

Leeds Medics III 0 Idle 2


Idle travelled to Leeds today to face Leeds M & D's III in another important game for the boys in blue. It was a strong line-up for Idle with confidence high on the back of a victory over Rothwell and the lads started quickly once again, winning the ball in key areas and controlling the possession early on. Idle managed to build pressure on the M & D defence and created a few early chances with Ryan Mitchell dribbling through the lines. Idle continued to press and it was Conor Halligan who opened the scoring scrambling home from inside the 6-yard box. 0-1. Idle continued to press but couldn't manage another before half-time. The second half was a slow start with several poor decisions from the referee contributing to Marcus Strudwick 's head falling off with the idle keeper receiving a yellow card for descent... It was certainly a penalty to Idle though with Aaron Irving brought down in the box however, the referee ended up giving an indirect free-kick on the edge of the Idle box. Despite this, Idle continued to control the game and eventually got a second and it was Halligan again who got his bonce on it to head home. 0-2. The big centre half was on for his hatrick... However, it remained 0-2 with Idle controlling the game and continuing to make clear chances with Irving, Jack Strudwick and Mitchell all having shots saved. Idle coasted out the final 10 minutes to secure another 3 points and the FIRST clean sheet of the season... #allidlearentwe


NWB adds

Idle are still third but are now seven points behind Ealandians Res who have, in turn, played four more games than Idle. Idle are eight points behind Rothwell with four games in hand.

Still await news from St Nicks. Beston Jun are now 8th and have 16 points from 13 games. St Nicholas only have two points from 13 attampts.

Ealandians 4 Drighlington 8

Almost exotic score but a reasoable if not outstanding contest. Ealandians took an early lead but that soon disappeared as Drighlington upped the tempo in the latter part of the first half, Goals came from Mark Beal following a corner againstt an Ealandians team that has lost two keepers injured during the past week and had the play anywhere Wayne Crossley donning the gloves. Drig went 1-5 ahead but by half time that was pulled back to 2-5. More hard work from Ealandians and the margin reduced to one goal at 5-4 but from then on it was one way traffic. Goals for Ealandians from Martin Coldwell 2, Dean Avis and Glyn Haley. For Drighlington it was goals in the following order: Mark Beal, Harvey Booth, James Bradd, Ben Small and Sam Thorpe. In the second half we had Shane Sowden, Harvey Booth and Shane Sowden with his second.

The leaves Ealandians in fourth slot with Drighlington now third but Drig are strongly placed in that they are six points behind the leaders Medics with three matches in hand.

Farsley Celtic Jnrs 3 Athletico 1

Ahtletico played neat footbal when allowed, but this Farsley display pleased the Farsley management as much as the shocking display last time out disappointed them. Jacob Kellett was introduced into a much changed team and he played on the right side of midfield and he was the scorer of the opening Farsley goal. That lead was doubled when another recent recruit, Ricardo Browne, added the second goal. A lapse of concentration forced an error that gave Ahtletico the goal to reduce the shortfall to one goal. Farsley controlled the game that they put to bed in the 75th minute when the inform Said Osman ran almost the entire length of the right hand side of the pitch before crossing for Louis Surtees to finish with aplomb. The player who did impress for Farsley was Joe Firth in the unaccustomed role of leader of the attack. His energetic approach coupled with no little skill enabled Joe to create an enthusiasm sadly missing of late with his bringing others into the game was a priceless asset. Yet to hear from Athletico,

Farsley are now sixth with Athletico seventh.

Morley Town AFC 2 Leeds Medics & Dentists 1

We may blame Full Time for showing the incorrect scores occasionally but this is correct and Morley did defeat Premier Div leaders Medics 2-1, and Morley really did need to win his week with two lower half of the Division teams succeeding with Beeston notably making their sequence three wins on the bounce. MorleyTown dominated a weakend Medics side in the first half. The opening sixth minute goal was Ryan Hartley's twelfth league goal of the campaign and Kieran Birdsall made the score 2-0 after 38 minutesto give Morley a comfortable lead. The second half was much improved from the Medics viewpoint but the harworking Morley team they never allowed Medics complete dominance. It was Eliott Foster who put into his own goal tlo give Medics a chance of a point but further chances just didn't come with Danny Robinson the Morley man of the match. Medics remian top as stated earlier but, despite a very good first half display, Morley drop to third to bottom in an absorbing battle of roulette in the lower half of the Premier Division with

Collingham Jnrs OB 1 Wortley 6

Collingham are struggling and in a long losing sequence they have reached 13 points from 16 games. A good young team with no lack of players available each weekend but the defence in particular has struggled for some time and a reasonable goal scoring record has not been rewarded in terms of points as it should be. Basement team Wortley have at last won in style. They have created numerous chances this season but have failed dismally in front of goal with only Joe Hudson meeting any success. Today's result will be the catalyst for greater victories to come from their nine games left with a mere six points in the plus column at the moment.

Scores for Wortley were: Ryan Sharrocks 3, Joe Hudson 2 and Codey Doyle. Collingham has won but one of its last ten League matches. Collingham goal scored by former East Leeds Trinity star Lee Capitano.

Leeds Independent v Horsforth St Margaret’s Saturday - postponed

Leeds Medics & Dentists Res 6 Thornesians 2

Thornesians initially put off by finding out the kick off had been brought forward by half an hour. Although this was a somewhat weakened Medics Res team, the hosts were able to net six times with the reply from Cameron Vine and James Wootton. Await news of the Medics Res scorers but this important victory takes them out of the danger area as they now have 20 points from 16 games. Thornesians are 11th with 13 points from 15 matches. 10th positioned Collingham are also on thirteen points but have played 16 matches so a window of opportunity still exists for Thornesians to escape relegation. Ealandians Res win again as Idle not allowed to take teir eye off the ball

Another giant step for mankind as Ealandians Res move within a point for Rothwell with both teams having played 17 matches, but both teams are under threat from defeated only once Idle who are eight points behind Rothwell with four matches in hand. Report to come from Ealandians Res whose scorers in this local derby were Dave Kerr, Tom Hall, Carlton Balmer, Anthony Campbell and Ash Andrews.


Garforth Rangers 2 Alwoodley Res 3

I have yet to contact Garforth whose pitch was in tip top condition when we consider the barrage we have endured this week. Garforth are a young side readily complimented for the excellent qualtiy of the football played. In the end it is Garforth who are in the bottom slot, but only four points separate the bottom club and sixth. With others away it was the management duo of Richard Kilner and Si Kamen who brought the best out of the Alwoodley Reseres taking them to 9th. Not a great start for the new managemnt team with Garforth ahead within a minute. A minute later Dan Ashton equalised (2nd minute) with Alex Badhams putting Alwoodley Res 1-2 ahead in he 43rd minute. 2-2 in the 58th minute with a well struck shot but in the 72nd minute James Turner netted following a corner to give Alwoodley Res three badly needed points.

Garforth Crusaders 6 Farnley Sports 0 1500hrs kick off

Well done to both teams regarding the flexibility of the later than usual kick off time. Garforth Crusaders did what Garforth Crusaders do well, and that is seucre a victory that takes keeps them at the top of Division 2 with 30 points out of 33. Farnley Sports remain bottom with 12 points from 15 games but they are only two points behind 7th placed Tyersal who have also played 15 matches. The game was hard-fought bnd no goals until Farnley had a player sent off in the 39th minute. With the team tiring before half time the player advantage was seized on by Crusaders in the 42nd minute as they went a goal up. Farnley continued to battle but in the 55th minute had a second player snet off and, as in the first instance, immediately conceded a goal and after that the floodgates opened as Farnley tired and the score finished 6-0 in favour of the hosts. If Farnley can each the standard shown for much of the fkirst half, then a route does exist for their being able to add more points and avoid the dreaded drop.



Tyersal 4 Morley Town AFC Res 4

ht 1-1. Tyersal are seventh as shown above. Morley Res are second but Colton Ath and Woodkirk Valley are below Morley and both have games in hand. In the case of Woodkirk two matches in hand and two points behind Morley Res. In the case of Colton Ath, two points behind second placed Morley but with one game in hand. Hope to find out more but this must have been a thrilling contest. For Tyersal their man of the match Alan Morley bagged three goals with support from Wayne Wright with his goal contribution. Goals for Morley came from their leading score Ben Howarth with two goals - one before half time in the 12th minute and the second in the 75th minute. James Bastow netted from the spot in the 53rd minute with Ryan Wilks adding the fourth in the 83rd minute. Tom Swaby was the Morley man of the match. Scoring sequence 1-0, 1-1, 1-2, 2-2, 2-3, 2-4, 3-4 (pen), 4-4 with five mins to go. Enjoyable game and could have been 10-10 with numerous chances missed by both teams. The game was moved to Gain Lane as the Tyersal pitch was unplayable at one end of the ground.

We needed a response after the loss at Shire a fortnight ago and thankfully got one. We lost a player on the Friday and then another on the morning of the game as he didn't have the correct footwear to play. Thankfully the Div 1 game got called off and I asked if they had anyone that needed a game. They gave us 3 players including a keeper who needed the game time as he hadn't played in a month and a centre back who only returned from Mexico on Thursday night and was crying out for a game as well. They definitely bolstered us and this is the 1st time we have been supported from above but we helped them enough last season when numbers were struggling and with 12 games to go and some midweek fixtures to come, I'm sure we will need some further support before the end of the season. It's not something I did lightly but losing two significant players from the 14 man squad, we had to do something.

Four goals in the first twenty minutes including a hat trick from Aaron Batley who hopefully has sorted his off the field problems out. Iain Mcburney added the other and also added a header late on to wrap the game up. Man of the Match was Aaron Batley and it showed how badly we missed an out and out striker against Shire.

I'll just add that the referee was excellent yesterday. And.... the 4g pitch has it's knockers with the footwear restrictions but it is a top notch facility and I'd rather play there 100% in comparison to the school pitch we played Bedes on a couple of years ago. We were the only game on in Division 5 yesterday which I have never said that before but more facilities like this in and around the country would only aid grass roots football. The footwear issue meant we lost a player yesterday but the game was played on the deck and both teams kept and passed the ball well. Bedes were respectful in defeat and the hospitality afterwards was welcomed. I look forward to the return fixture in due course.

Town's prolific striker Ryan Hartley put the hosts in front and the ever-reliable Kieran Birdsall doubled their lead as they went into the half-time interval 2-0 up against the formidable Leeds Medics & Dentists. Unfortunately, Elliott Foster's looping header into his own net brought the visitors back into the game but Arran Wheelhouse's side ran out worthy winners on the day which was witnessed by our Fixture Secretary Mark Smith and Heavy Woollen District FA Referee Ian Johnston who were both impressed with Match Official Ben Cousen. Many thanks to Stephen Ledger and his lads for honouring our hospitality back at the Carriers Arms and I personally would like to wish them all the best for the remainder of the season with their eyes set on a possible treble.

That's twice we've drawn with Tyersal this season and a valuable four points dropped in our opinion but fair play to next weeks opponents Garforth Crusaders who extend their lead following their resounding 6-0 victory over Farnley Sports. Ben Howarth's double, James Barstow's penalty and Ryan Wilks' strike 7 minutes from time looked as if a win was on the cards for the visitors but the hosts equalised for a third time through Wayne Wright after Alan Morley had already plundered a well-deserved hat-trick.

Clinical Garforth Crusaders maintain their Div 2 lead

Farnley started off well and were on top for 30 minutes until they had a player sent off. Garforth were 1-0 up at halftime with goal from Nezzy Neil Rollings and in 2nd half goals from rob Deane x 2, Zola tom helliwel, Danny Kershaw, Ross Mcmillen
